The Pineapple is a charming back-street pub which was thankfully saved from closure in 2001 through a series of campaigns and the good fortune to be granted Grade II listed status. It's certainly one of the more cosy and traditional pubs in the area: there's a well preserved and attractive interior, with plenty of vestiges of it's Victorian heritage, such as the ornate back bar. Marble fireplaces give the place a warm feel and there's even a stand up piano in the corner being a provocation to start up a sing-song. The new leather seating gives a more contemporary feel, but it doesn't detract from the overall look. It's also got lots of nooks and crannies, as well as a conservatory and sun-trap beer garden, which results in a Tardis-like effect. A clique of older locals often frequent the bar area, while younger Kentish town residents tend to gravitate towards the back - either way, the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. Previous issues related to hit-and-miss service were swept away with a change of management last year, who also introduced some pretty decent beer on the hand pumps and an excellent Thai menu. One of the better pubs in Kentish Town.
