Popped in for old-times-sake on a Sunday afternoon. The general ambience doesn't seem to have changed much since the 'Tick-Tock' opened 40 years ago. We didn't eat, but the Ordinary was in good order, and my daughter thought their wine choice was excellent; and they still had the water bowls down for the dogs! It's still not a bad place to sit out, look over the rye, and just watch life (and the buses) pass you by.posted by Alberta Tatlock - Friday 11th July, 2008, 10:49am
I went there last night because of the description on Fancy a pint. We were very disappointed and only stayed for one pint. Posh Weatherspoons is right.posted by Ketsbaia - Wednesday 18th June, 2008, 1:10pm
I echo what MikeSE22 said - while the beer's still OK, the staff aren't as knowledgeable as they were before. I don't expect to have to explain what a light and bitter is to bar staff in a Young's pub, to be honest. Posh Wetherspoons is about right. Definitely not a four-star pub.posted by mikese22 - Friday 3rd August, 2007, 5:01pm
Unfortunately the Clock House has had a rubbish 'chain pub tries to do gastropub' makeover - atmosphere is now 'posh Wetherspoons' and food is awful
