picture of Andover Arms
We were rather worried when we heard the Andover Arms had received a makeover, as it has always been somewhat of a sanctuary in the area. Our latest visit however can confirm that the changes aren't as dramatic as we had feared. Inside this diminutive pub you'll find a handsome gantried bar serving up a decent range of Fuller's ales. We seem to recall there previously being wood panelling, but this has been sadly removed and replaced with some politely inoffensive wallpaper. The back room has been tidied up and the whole place has a warm feel. It's a little less of the traditional back street boozer that it once was and there is more focus on food, but it still feels like a proper pub and - in fairness - the food was great. It is usually pleasantly busy, with a good mix of punters and a previous visit found a trio playing some live jazz - all very appropriate for 'Brackenbury Village'. Sadly though out most recent visit found it badly understaffed, with one girl running around delivering food. Having stood at the bar for a few minutes without acknowledgement, we decided enough was enough and went elsewhere. Let's hope it was a one off.

Eating at The Andover Arms ... we last ate here on 10/09/2009

Small pub grub menu at not too expensive West London prices. The Burger priced at £9 was excellent, with a generous piece of meat cooked to perfection, alongside some pretty darn tasty chips. Fish and Chips was a reasonable £8.50, while we also recall Lamb's Liver at £9.
