Just what you want when wandering the wastelands where Brixton and Clapham merge. This welcoming place offers eccentric decoration - well a full-size boat and other assorted knicknacks hanging from the rafters - a theatre upstairs with regular comedy nights, a good range of drinks, including decent real ales, and a genial atmosphere. It's starting to look a bit down at heel (which probably means it's due for a refurb), down to the old Truman, Hanbury and Buxton brewery name outside, but that just adds to its charm in our opinion. Be sure to give a look to the rather large beer garden: it's a welcoming spot, with a mural and an overgrown street lamp to keep you company. If that wasn't enough Sunday nights have an intelligent-looking pub quiz too. Hard to fault really. So we won't.
