This pub looks tiny from the outside but appearances are deceiving - it's enormous on the inside. This is another old coaching inn, so there's a long history of the pub on the menu and plenty of copper stuff. Chef & Brewer, the company that owns the Queen's Head, specialise in big local pubs that do food and are aimed at non-teenaged drinkers and families. They haven't strayed from the formula here and so, rather weirdly, this does not feel like a London pub but like a successful country boozer. The result isn't too bad. The food looks fine, though a little frilly, and because the old bits are actually old and the pub is made up of what were once adjoining smaller rooms, there is a genuine cosiness to the place. Worth a look on a warm day too, as the beer garden is one of the largest in town.
