picture of Hop ExchangeRecently refurbished after a fire, the Hop Exchange is a curious place. Boxing photos cover the walls alongside adverts for a Brixton arm wrestling contest run by 'Mr. X', and numerous signs warning against drug salesabuse. On our visit, the East Enders Sunday omnibus was shown on a widescreen TV placed next to a vertical blue fish tank, enjoyed by an elderly couple having a cuppa. What does this add up to? A reasonable enough pub, but you get the feeling that some secrets lie beneath the freshly painted walls...
