Wood-panelled, loungey sort of pub that doesn't have the pretensions of many of the bars in Soho. You can actually relax here, rather than pose uncomfortably. Given its proximity to Oxford Street it's a handy one for exhausted shoppers to escape to. Food is the standard pub fayre, but there's a bit more room to enjoy it than in some of the other pubs nearby. It must be said that due to their late licence it can get pretty crowded on occasions. Not an exceptional pub then, just one that does a professional job. On our last visit one Wednesday lunchtime, the pub was fairly quiet despite the very low prices currently offered (GBP 1.99 for a pint of Carlsberg, dirt cheap food). We won't knock it - W1 pubs where you can pick your lunchtime seat are pretty thin on the ground.

Eating at The Green Man ... we last ate here on 21/10/2009

A quite frankly absurdly cheap and cheerful menu (intended, we suspect, as a credit crunch buster), the food here wasn't at all bad given the low prices. GBP 3.49 for a double cheeseburger served with onion rings and a decent portion of chips. They got our order wrong, but at these prices one can't grumble too much.

Almost a year to the day after the last comment from someone on this site and all I can say is : ditto. I was a regular for years and years, but new management mean unhappy and slow staff, and the food has declined massively. But more than anything, the last few times I've been in the pub, there has been no soap in the women's bathroom. So all I have to do is think about the female staff members pulling pints and cooking food with dirty hands and.. I'm done. No more Green Man for me. Never seen a pub decline so badly. Shame, really.

needs an update since last review, chefs have all quit so incompetant manager and assistant manager are cooking , food is crap , I heard one staff memeber say that she had over 10 meal returns in 1 lunch hour. ale is not always on , and service is mediorce at best , the staff seem to be doing thier best but there is never enough staff nor a manager to take charge ( although if he is the kitchen , how can he run his pub?) My impressin now is that this could easily be the worst pub in Soho
