picture of Florence
The Florence comes to you from the same people behind The Cock & Hen in Fulham, and like that one this is a makeover of a very blokeish boozer. Here, where once there was Sky Sports and Oirish decor, now there are arty light fittings and a pastel colour scheme. Only of interest to the three-wheeler brigade then? Well no. Some of the old regulars can still be found, studying the form in the racing section of the papers, but more to the point this is still a pub where you can go to just to enjoy the booze. And like the Cock & Hen it's one that not only has a fine selection of beers on tap, but also one brewed on site (here it's their Weasel bitter). Perhaps the only problem this one now has is its similarity to the local competition: still, the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the fare on offer mean that The Florence is very hard to knock.

A very nice pub. We ate there last night and the food and service was excellent. Good choice of menu and a good choice of ale. The 'Weasel' bitter is especially worth a go. As an added bonus, the Assistant Manageress is friendly and incredibly beautiful. Lily Allen fans will be most impressed, as she looks a bit like her, but more attractive.

Absolutely shocking service. We waited 1 and a half hours and repeatedly asked where our food was. Eventually were told the kitchen had forgotten our order. Waitress was apologetic but frankly, a bit rubbish. I won't be going back here. If you want great food and service visit the Prince Regent 5 mins down the road...

It's a thumbs up for the fantastic new Florence. The important stuff: great selection of drinks, reasonable menu and bearable prices. What a civilised, relaxing and enjoyable place to sit and drink. Lots of outdoor space which is a big plus point on lazy summer evenings. Airy and spacious indoors too, winter will be a little less gloomy this year. Service was slow, at tables and at the bar, but hey, it's early days. My only real gripe is this: dear smokers, please don't huddle outside the doors, and please don't throw fag buts all over the pavement.
