how to find it:

From Anerley Station, head along Station Road onto Oakfields before turning right down Hawthorne Grove. When you reach Maple Road you'll see the pub ahead of you on the right.

The colourful exterior belies a traditional pub catering for the older market. The punters here seem an agreeable lot - though the proximity of the toilet door to the dartboard makes you wary of crossing them. The pub also has a Golf Society: we've come to the conclusion such a thing suggests a hostelry with a modicum of civility about it. Food available too.
