This place fills a distinct niche in haven of quite decent pubs that is the Borough. For one thing, there's a hostel (with its own entrance), principally oriented towards backpackers, attached to the pub, while regular special deals on drinks for students attract the residents of nearby halls of residence. Somehow, though, the Dover Castle is too unpretentious to be semi-bohemian, despite the presence of stripped wood flooring, pale sofas, spot lighting and a DJ booth. The pub has a late licence ('til 1am on Mon - Wed, 'til 2am on Thurs - Sat), meaning that the place only really warms up later in the evening. But there's a decent array of drinks and a moderately laid-back vibe. If you're in Borough, and you want to go drinking surrounded by 20-year olds, this is probably the place for you.
