picture of Dickens Inn
On paper it's great: dockside location, good choice of ales, plenty of space for outdoor drinking. In the flesh however, this pub manages to do most things awfully. From the obligatory receipt with every single purchase (no doubt aimed at the majority of suits on lunch expenses that make up a lot of the trade), to the mandatory 'would you like any crisps or nuts with that?' - as if you couldn't come up with the answer to that teaser on your own - to the musak piped from every corner. Nearby, the Town of Ramsgate offers good food, friendly service, and a Thames-side terrace, so unless you are desperate to sit on St Katharine's dock, go the extra mile and enjoy your pint there.
