picture of Fallow Buck
This pretty pub in the greenbelt is the kind of archetypal olde worlde country pub tourists would love to visit but never do. From the wood panelled exterior, to the small doorways, hidden nooks and creaky floorboards, it exudes character. Sadly it appears to be a victim of its own success. On weekends it gets incredibly busy with families and simply coming for a simple drink is a hit-and-miss affair. It's not helped by half the pub being reserved for eating, compete with a very congruous carpet. As such our advice is to avoid the weekends and take an afternoon weekday visit, when the Fallow Buck transforms from a faintly annoying family pub to a charming little local.
