New Crown, Southgate  

Now as ubiquitous a site on the High Streets of this country as a Poundstretchers or a Superdrug, the experience of drinking in a Wetherspoon is often as exciting as shopping in either of the above. The usual formula of cheap food and drink is applied in the Southgate branch, though there's a quietly desperate air about this one. A cordial pub atmosphere is constrained by the arrangement of the tables into neat rows, so giving the place the look of a gym hall during exam time. The small size of the tables may suit people drinking by themselves, but they're not handy if you're in a larger group. It's all a bit dispiriting really. A two pinter for its fayre, but a one for its atmosphere.
