In the shadow of the flyover at the major junction with the Blackwall Tunnel approach, you'd think this place wouldn't have a lot going for it; in fact it's a pretty decent boozer. It's actually a hotel catering for the working man, but plenty of locals visit it too. The beer's decent - Bass, Tetley's & Directors on the hand pumps, the service friendly and efficient and there are screens all over the pub for the sport. The Angerstein has had a thorough redecoration and now it really outshines its unpromising location. Installing outdoor heaters and a terrace for the smokers was a smart business move too - we stopped in for a late drink recently and the place was packed. It's solid and dependable, just how a pub should be.
