The pub is on Liverpool Street, just opposite the cab rank. To get to it from the tube, go up the stairs and leave by the exit above the tube station (next to the McDonald's).

Not many pubs in the square mile have an ivy clad exterior; even fewer display the crests of the old railway companies, but then given this pub's name that shouldn't come as a surprise. Shame then, that this one hasn't many other touches of originality to it. As it's bang opposite the station, it's busy when you'd expect it to be with City commuters and other disparate transients. The beer selection's not bad and there's Sky Sport on the TV, should one feel so inclined. One plus point: it's open at weekends, and so offers an alternative to the nearby Wetherspoon for the weary traveller (safe and sound pub grub too). It does a job, but not quite enough to disprove the old dictum: the closer you get to a mainline train station, the worse the pub. At least it's not as close as Hamilton Hall though...
