From the people who brought you Filthy McNasty's, so no surprise on our first visit to see a selection of the CDs on the jukebox had been picked by Shane McGowan (often to be spotted sitting at the bar) and Spider Stacey. And what a juke box it is: if you've waited for a pub where you can select Captain Beefheart or Pere Ubu instead of picking your way through Now! 5,000,000 you should pay it a visit. There's a fairly limited (by modern standards) range of drinks on offer, and the food on offer doesn't stretch past nuts and crisps (not always a sticking point but if you have the word 'kitchen' etched on your front window you're leading hungry passers by rather far up the garden path). The regular quiz nights (Tuesday - music, Wednesday - film) will test the grey matter, and just like Filthy's, expect literary nights and 'secret' gigs every so often. It's not far off a cool record shop with a bar in the corner - not a bad thing in our book. Oh, and just so you know, it's only open in the evenings during the week, and from 2pm on weekends.
