We suppose it was only a matter of time before such a one-off pub would be subsumed into generic Clapham lounging. We're still a bit gutted that it's finally happened though. No longer the most idiosyncratic pub in SW4 this one's now been re-launched as a Dim Sum Eatery & Wine Bar. So out go the fairy lights and a notable pub quiz and in come the red lanterns and the Charlie Chan posters. I suppose we should be thankful it's not another generic gastro makeover but given they've left some of the old signs up you can't help us pining for the old place. As for Traders itself, it all looks very similar to the Drunken Monkey over in Shoreditch. Though is this its sister bar? And why did Mistress P's have to close in the first place? Even the great Chan might not be able to work this out. Either way, a fine pub with a bit of character has bitten the dust. A real shame.
