how to find it:

Barking: turn left out of the station, then take first left (Wakering Road - between "The Barking Dog" and "The Spotted Dog"). Where the roadway bears off and up to the right, take the pedestrian subway to the left to join the northern section of Wakering Road. Turn right up Church Road. The pub is on the right.

picture of The BritanniaKnown locally as the "Titty Bar", after the amply be-bosomed sailors lasses moulded in the columns around the external doorways, the Britannia is an old-fashioned, unpretentious East London pub. There are two spacious bars, the relaxed atmosphere of each belying that of the dismal surroundings in which the pub is located (decaying blocks of flats, railway lines, Barking Northern Relief Road). The saloon bar has a piano, which sees the occasional bout of knees-up-mother-browning. The public bar boasts a pool table. A Young's pub, so a good selection of beers on tap. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
