The pub is located in the Surrey Street Market. On exiting East Croydon station turn right and follow the crowds or get the tram two stops down to Church Street.
A local favourite and rightly so - we're talking classic boozer territory here. A simple layout: island bar with seating round the sides, with the TV at the back of the pub so you can ignore it if you want. The Young's beers are very well kept and the lunchtime food is pub grub at favourable prices (out of hours there's usually some filled rolls on the counter). Best of all is the great mix of punters you get in: all nattering away and enjoying one of the most welcoming pubs we've found in a while. It's the sort of pub you'll feel at home in as soon as you cross the threshold. No surprises then that it's the pub Young's used for their publicity shot of Prince Charles pulling a pint. Not sure if HRH's banter is up there with that of the present day staff though. And best of all, Young's haven't seen fit to turn it into a gastro-city like a lot of their other pubs.
