picture of Captain CookNamed in honour of the explorer, who wed at St. Margaret's church over the road, the Captain Cook is a perfectly pleasant pub frequented largely by middle-aged and older couples. A nautical theme abounds in the décor of this 1970s building, which is cosy and warmly decorated. There is an understated air of dignified civility about the place, which is to be much commended. The barstaff are friendly, a couple of real ales are on tap, while the sale of individual cigars at the bar is a thoughtful touch.
