how to find it:

Turn right out of Borough tube, keep going for a wee bit, and you're there. From Elephant and Castle: Bear left out of the tube exit and follow the road that double backs behind the tube station. Keep following that road for another 5-10 minutes and you'll come to the pub.

picture of The ShipHome to some of our favourite drinkeries, Borough has an unusually high concentration of top class boozers. The Ship, located a short walk from Borough tube, has some of the features which make other nearby pubs so great: a relaxed but lively atmosphere, a truly varied crowd of punters made who live and work nearby, a decent range of beers (a good selection of Fuller's finest) and a healthy disrespect for pretension. Don't be put off by the somewhat "estatey" exterior of this place, inside it's a good old fashioned boozer. The décor's a little on the faded side, but this all adds to the atmosphere. There's pretty much something for everyone here - a dartboard at the back, a quiet seating area at the top (with its own bar, although this wasn't in operation when we were last there) and the main bar which in addition to great beer was serving up a pretty good selection of tunes (we didn't spot a jukebox anywhere). If there were international standards in "Decent" and "Solid" then this pub would be able to proudly display its certification.
