picture of The PhoenixThis pub's prime attraction is its ban on smoking - throughout the pub. Smoking ban aside, the place doesn't have a great deal much else to offer, coming over as a slightly conservative All Bar One. There are a few decent beers on the hand pumps, including the increasingly available Deuchars, and plenty of wine etc and the food is pretty ordinary, but not expensive for the City. At least you can eat it without someone's post-prandial fag blowing in your face. The place also has a wheelchair lift, so you can tell they're trying pretty hard, but the identikit City bar décor and booming crowds straight after work render the place somehow a little soulless.
