A traditional looking pub, with loads of knickknacks hanging from the ceiling and pictures on the wall to impress the tourists - ranging from poster for prize fighters to recruitment posters from the second World War to beer ads to a stuffed antelope head - but it doesn't have that forced olde worlde look some places do, because it's looked like this forever. Probably Victorian, it looks older, which is fine for visitors and it is, after all, a proper pub. After work, it's packed with local workers, and although some stay and some go, providing a steady turnover of people, the atmosphere somehow manages to stay relaxed. Every so often a bunch of tourists wander into the place, but the pub takes them in its stride. Inexpensive food in good quantity, plus Wadworth 6X, Deuchars and Pedigree were on draft last time we were in and with prompt, attentive service, this pub would be a pretty decent local anywhere, especially remarkable in Soho.
