It's everything you'd expect from a Wetherspoon's in Dagenham. Low prices, a chance of real ale (though they were running low on our visit) and a preponderance of old men. A note of the unexpected was introduced by the stair-lift (it says a lot about the clientele one way or another), as was the fact that our conversation was interrupted at one point by a barmaid who needed to lift up the bench to find some toilet paper for a punter who was in some distress in the gents. There is also the chance of finding someone willing to discuss Dagenham's historic bus routes and buildings, but these surprises are not really enough to entice the random punter.
