First impressions mark this one down as the sort of gastro-by-numbers pub you'd expect in such a wealthy part of town. Closer investigation shows to have a bit more character to it. We found it to be a relaxed, easy going affair, with three real ales on tap and - no surprise this - a lengthy wine list. What we were surprised by was the menu: did it really have such choices on it as Chilli Con Carne and Sticky Toffee Pudding? Nothing wrong with that of course, just that such plain speaking is rare in these days of gastronglish menus. No time for us to try out the food, nor to choose from the selection of board games (including the game of 'Desperate Housewives' - no sign of the one for 'Six Feet Under, though). We'll be back though, especially as a pub that has a fish tank - as this one does - often reveals itself as a place with a bit of individuality to it.
