From Mortlake BR station: exit station, turn right, and walk up to the Upper Richmond Road. Turn left and walk along the road until you find the pub on your left.
A rangy old Young's pub that still retains a public and saloon bar divide. Even though there's a dose of the designers to it (well, the booths in the saloon have been painted an unconvincing mauve) this one's still an old fashioned boozer, albeit one that can cater for every conceivable market. Food and drink are up to the high Young's standard, but the sizeable garden (with children's play area), dart board and TVs are features any pub could do with. Not forgetting regular live music ('Thames Delta' Blues according to the poster). No wonder the clientele here were so wide-ranging, and by the look of them, pretty satisfied with their lot. A fine all-rounder and a good one for showing up the limitations to gastropubs.
