how to find it:

From Victoria station its directly behind, so exit at the front, turn right and right again onto Hudson's Place. This becomes Bridge Place and you'll see the pub on the right. There's also an exit directly from the train station up by back of the left hand platforms which brings you onto Bridge Place.

It might be extraordinarily close to Victoria Station, but this one seems to get forgotten about, probably due to its awkward position directly behind the station. Another in the Nicholson's chain, from the outside you'd expect a real treat. Sadly though, the leaded windows harks back to some long lost version of this pub, as do the last reminisces of a nice interior. It is instead a bog standard afterwork pub. The lighting is gloomy and most of the front section high-level seating, while the nicer back bit makes way for a tourist-heavy low-rent dining section. The chain's plusses are there - a handful of good ales and easy availability of food - while service was quick, but it's still a two pint rated pub. With very similar pubs nearby, there's no particular reason to choose this one, unless you've just spent the better part of a day feeling your life ebb away at the London Passport Office over the road, when its close proximity might be a very welcome sight.
