picture of Ruse
While not exactly outstanding - and indeed some might argue rather unattractive from the outside - Ruse isn't actually a bad place at all. Sure, it's more one for the locals, but that doesn't mean you can't come here and enjoy some cheap food or some football action from one of the two screens in peace. Having previously been aiming for the younger crowd, it seems to have grown up a bit now, with contemporary art on the walls and a warm ambience, not a million miles away from a hotel bar (and we don't mean that pejoratively on this occasion). So overall, while not a destination pub, its fine to pop in if you're thirsty. We also note they now have a sister pub ('Ruse Too') a short walk away on Law Street, which we'll review when we have the chance.

Eating at TheRuse ... we last ate here on 18/03/2008

Classic pub grub served 12-3 and 5-8pm during the week. Everything under £6 and perfectly fine.

second opinion:

I visited this pub on the 1st May 2009, and I was with 2 friends of mine, and we decided to have lunch. The Cheese and Steak pie with mash sounded nice, what a shame that in parts, it was cold. We also ordered 3 pints of Greene King IPA, and this was sour. When we voiced our opinions about the cold food, and the sour beer, the manager had a could not care less attitude. All the staff are interested in is taking your hard earned cash, and providing poor beer and poor food. The manager did ask us if our food was ok, and when we said that it was not ,it prompted a "sorry about that", but he never came back to offer us anything else. The manager never returned to our table, as he was hoping that the junior staff would clear the plates, so that he would not have to face us again. Avoid this place like the plague, unless cold food and sour beer are what appeals to you.
only one comment, so far on this pub - why not add your own?
