This loungey pub has just got better as time has gone on and it's obviously a hit with the locals. When we were last in, on a lazy Saturday afternoon, there were people dotted all over the place reading the papers with a quiet pint or indulging in a late lunch. As we've said before, it' easy to lump this one in with a lot of other places trying too hard nearby, but there is something about the 'Fox - a freshness and originality to the place. Perhaps it stems from the pub's old fashioned vinyl jukebox: there're not many of them left in London, probably as relying on A and B sides of singles can result in a rather odd selection of tracks (if you have a burning desire to hear the Instrumental Dub Mix B-side of Bowie's 'Absolute Beginners' be sure to stop by). There's also the promise of regular DJ nights to be had here, and we're not too surprised at that. The food's changed a bit, as they've opted for spit-roasted chicken for the majority of the mains - don't worry, there are vegetarian options. But to be honest, the pork pie, pickles and piccalilli for under a fiver sounded pretty good, too. Stylish is probably the best way to describe this place, and some nice touches on the décor front - the wooden cabinet for the spirit bottles was a particular favourite, and it's hard to be critical of a bar where posters of Debbie Harry and Marianne Faithfull adorn the walls. And it's one we'll be coming back to.
