picture of Seven Stars
Another pub that's been gutted and had the changing rooms makeover. The large expanses of blue paint (and the odd Chelsea flag) suggest it's new mode is as a haunt for supporter's of the Blues - well, it's within spitting distance from their ground, so it's hardly surprising. Large tellys dominate both bars, showing music videos when the footy's not on. It's a shame, really, as it's in a lovely 1930's building which had lots of original features. Gone is the wood panelling and the clubby/parlour atmosphere. And it's no longer owned by Fullers, judging by the lack of real ale on the pumps - Guinness was as close as it gets. It still sets out to look after, entertain and perhaps even stimulate the local inhabitants through regular karaoke Fridays and party nights. Sadly, the chess club appears to have gone. We're sure it meets the needs of its audience, but unless you support the Blues, it may not be the one for you.
