picture of Walkabout
This Walkabout opened up nearly four years ago, on Bromley's infamous "Asbo Alley", a strip to the north of the High Street, where you will never want for a drink - or a fight if you so desire (and sometimes if you don't). It suffers from the age-old theme bar problems: underage-looking drinkers, doormen and the awful music that blares out of the place. And it's like that most nights of the week. During the day it's not that much better - it's still difficult to get a seat, it can take up to an hour to get food (although it can be quicker, we are told), there's nothing interesting on offer to drink, and the only atmosphere is an edgy, belligerent one. We visited out of necessity, it being the only local showing the Rugby League Grand Final. Why do these places switch on the music the moment the half-and full-time whistle blows? Most depressingly of all, a group was play-fighting with laminated menus by the bar, effing and blinding for over ten minutes, unchecked. Overall, a minor improvement over the past couple of years, but still your worst pick in Bromley (and that's saying something).
