This pub is tucked out of site in a small mews not far from Hyde Park. The surrounding colleges explain the student population, but that's not the whole story. It's also a good place to meet before going to see something at the Albert Hall and shows the effects of major events like the Proms, spilling out into the hapless mews. It was done up a while back and is no longer the dark boozer it used to be. The menu is a bit gastro, but what we saw looked good - and not more than a tenner a plate. They also have specials every day and Sunday Roast from lunchtime until 8.30 in the evening. A lively place, good guest beers and a selection of Belgian beer (had a raspberry one on when we were in last). The harried staff manage to stay friendly even after a long evening. It's less busy during the day and on weekends, which makes it a good spot to meet in Kensington, if a little off off the beaten track.
