picture of Queens Arms
A former Fancyapint Award winner, the Queen's Arms is tucked out of sight in a small mews not far from Hyde Park. The surrounding colleges explain the high student numbers, but that's not the whole story. It's also a good place to meet before going to see something at the Albert Hall and often shows the effects of major events like the Proms, spilling out into the hapless mews. It's been refreshed, but it's still kept the high standards that have made this a perennial favourite, including decent beer on the four hand pumps, a selection of Belgian beers, friendly staff and a reasonably priced (if slightly gastro) menu. And we're always pleased to see Sunday Roasts - advertised as available all day Sunday. A lively place, the harried staff even manage to stay pleasant after a long evening. It's less busy during the day and on weekends, which makes it a good spot to meet in Kensington, if a little off of the beaten track.
