picture of Director General
This must have been a fine pub once. Although it's now a little careworn and run-down, the Director General has some handsome features from finer days: traditional dining booths, elegant stained glass and a wooden bar styled with classical arches. The drink on offer is only average, with no real ales and only a basic choice of wine. The big screen TV (blaring nondescript pop at no-one on our noon visit) was an unwelcome distraction, but the service was friendly and welcoming. If a bit of money was thrown at this place, it could be a super pub. At the moment, it is merely one of the most interesting two pinters we've come across.
