picture of Albion
A wholly mediocre pub that fails to live up to even the limited expectations generated by the signs outside. To save anyone else the bother, let us translate: 'Quality food' = a Sunday lunch menu comprising two items only, neither of which were of notably exceptional quality. 'Cask-conditioned beers' = all four hand pumps out of service. Not good. The Albion is a strange amalgam of a trad boozer (high tables in a rather pokey, blokey, spartan corner with high wooden stools) and a place that families or OAPs might visit for a meal. (A much larger area of numbered tables, decorated in the fashion of a less downmarket Wetherspoon, although devoid of comfortable seating). There are lots of tables outside, in three separate areas, but our experiences of this pub, on successive visits, do nothing to suggest that staffing would be anything like adequate to deal with large numbers of customers. In any case the intoxication provided by breathing in fumes from the nearby 'old A13' would probably be preferable to that threatened by the alcoholic beverages on offer here. We really can't recommend dropping by.
