This place has returned to something like its previous incarnation after a brief flirtation with the Spirit Group in the mid-noughties. Thankfully, the large banners proclaiming bargain booze no longer adorn the exterior. The new owners have retained the immaculate hanging baskets, however, and inside, the place has had a lick of paint and retains some period features (not to mention the resident tropical fish), while remaining very much a locals' boozer. The presence of itinerant jobbers from the North and Scotland makes for a lively, but welcoming, atmosphere, especially when there is football on. The main criticism is the cessation of Sunday grub, especially the bargain roasts, but on our visit the bar staff laid on complimentary roast potatoes and pizza slices - once the bad news had been broken. A pleasant alternative to the somewhat loutish atmosphere prevailing in many Bromley pubs - especially when live sport is on - and worth a detour, being only ten minutes' walk from the town centre. Back to being a solid three-pinter after several years in the doldrums.
