how to find it:

From Turnpike Lane tube you need to catch a bus, or have a good 15 minute walk. Out of the tube, find the bus stop on Turnpike Lane itself (opposite the Burger King) and either jump on the 144 bus for four or five stops, or walk straight until you reach the pub on your left. Hornsey Train Station is a bit nearer. Out the exit, turn right and then left at the lights and its a 10 minutes walk from there.

picture of Hornsey Tavern
The Hornsey Tavern is a friendly, popular local in leafy Hornsey. It seemed as if one or two of the older regulars had a rather faraway look in their eye, but everyone appeared to know each other, which made for a jolly atmosphere. Some nice original wood panelling, pool table and Sky TV make this firmly a traditional-style local. Our first visit found us being encouraged to partake in the barbecue going on in the (vaguely depressing) back yard and our follow-up visits have found it a harmless place to have a drink.
