picture of Fanny On Hill
Adjacent to a splendid piece of open land that once shared the name of this pub, but which now has been bowdlerised as "East Wickham Open Space", Fanny On The Hill is a fairly dull suburban local. A display of trophies indicate that it's favoured by some pretty skillful darts players, and there's a reasonably sized, gently sloping, beer garden. Both internally and externally, there's something of an abundance of St. George's flags, almost as if they've bought a job lot of them several times over, and even enamel shields marked with said cross placed over the bar. The proportion of men in the pub with extremely short hair (some of whom had brought their children along when we visited) could possibly inspire some medical, or failing that, psychogeographical investigations into how Welling became the epicentre of alopecia that it might appear to be. Whatever the explanation, it's all a bit boisterous, and quite possibly overwhelming to non-regulars.
