picture of Camden Head
Adding to the numerous pubs in North London with Camden in the name - and not to be confused with the Camden Head in Islington - this is the latest kid on the block. Once known as Liberties, the new owners have brought it further back into pub territory. On the surface it does little wrong and caters to everyone pretty well. Upstairs is a live gig venue, while downstairs sports a pool table and open fire. If you're in the mood for some food, there's a rotating choice of five simple pub dishes to choose from - this is after all pub, not a gastropub. A late licence and DJs will being people in on the weekends and although popular, it seems slightly less frenetic than the venues up towards the lock. The only black spot we can see is the mixed music policy; sometimes great, sometime horrific, often too loud. The other problem, for which a pint is duly knocked off, was seeing a member of staff going to the loo and not washing his hands afterwards - whoever you are, hang your head in shame.
