There're not a lot of reasons to visit Locksbottom, which falls in the stretch between Bromley and Orpington, home to Farnborough hospital and not much else. But we've recently discovered it boasts this rather splendid Shepherd Neame pub. We found them to have everything right, with a good range of bitters and wines, an unspoilt attractive interior, a very enticing and grand looking separate restaurant area, lovely garden. Food is good and reasonably priced, the service efficient and prompt, the clientele are a mixed balance of locals and visitors, the atmosphere is warm and relaxing. The place is difficult to fault. They also take pride in their achievements advertised by their certificates hung along the walls including the (well deserved, actually!) 'loo of the year.' Considering some of the alternatives you'll find in the neighbouring Orpington and Bromley, this one particularly stands out.
