how to find it:
From Highams Park station (One rail) cross over the road and find Larkshall Road. Catch the 212 or W16 towards Chingford for a few stops. Its on the left, set back slightly.
As you approach the Larkshall, you could be forgiven for thinking you had stumbled across a very nice pub indeed. Set back off the road, with a grassed garden, its exterior is very pretty. Inside too, low ceilings, original beams and an upstairs galleried area all add to the charm. It had a simple but hearty menu and despite being the cheapest food we had seen in a pub for a long time, it was perfectly edible. On the downside however and in common with pubs in the outskirts on London, our weekend afternoon visit saw whole flocks of children running amok, screaming and shouting. Later in the evening, once the kiddies had gone to bed, it became a geezers pub - loud and unrelaxing. Ultimately, if you time your visit right, say a weekday afternoon, you could have a grand time here. Otherwise, its one for the locals.
