From the station, turn right and walk up the hill fork left at the Barnet church junction onto Wood Street. After a few minutes take the first right onto The Avenue and follow it until it becomes Alston Road. The pubs on the left.
Barnet seems to have more than its fare share of back street pubs and the Sebright is no exception. In this instance its a pleasant a two-bar pub right in the heart of residential suburbia and you'd only come here if you knew it was here (or are a wandering pub reviewer, of course). Consequently this is the definitive locals pub, but thankfully not too unwelcoming for outsiders. The good choice of beer and the fairly even mix of locals (not too male dominated) means its perfectly OK for a couple of pints. We enjoy pubs like this and hope they'll have a happy future, but on the evidence of the last few years, it seems the odds are rather stacked against this kind of establishment.
