picture of The RocketBearing in mind Acton isn't famous for gastropubs, its unsurprising that on any given day you'll find the Rocket filled with trendy twenty-somethings, presumably so grateful to have discovered somewhere good to drink they happily overlook the pub's fairly obvious shortcomings. For starters, our weekend evening visit found the bar understaffed, unfortunately not helped by an excruciatingly slow barman. The decoration of the large drinking area was fairly predictable - like any fashionable pub you could think of, with bare floorboards, miss-matched furniture and red painted walls. However, things did seem a little shabby, with our table so wobbly it took two newspapers to level it and some rather disgraceful toilets. The separate dining room was better maintained, but with the food prices up into the £12-16 territory, you'd hope so. Nevertheless, in an area lacking in quality establishments, good tunes and a pleasant atmosphere are the order of the day here - just don't expect to be amazed.
