how to find it:
From Acton Central train station, turn left and walk to the end of Churchfield Road. When you reach the end, turn right onto Horn Lane and you'll see it on the left soon enough. From Acton Town tube, turn right, walk to the end of Gunnersbury Lane and after a minute or so on the High Street turn left onto Steyne Road. The pub will be on the right, almost behind Morrisons

Our immediate observation on entering the Duke of York was that the demeanour of the clientele was in direct contrast to the chirpy young barmaid. Exclusively consisting of half a dozen older men, desperation hung thick in the air of this dark boozer. It was the land that time forgot, as people stared vacantly at the sport flickering in the TV. So we snuck off to the empty conservatory-style extension at the back to sup our London Pride and peruse the temptingly cheap menu. Sadly, it wasn't tempting enough to keep us and soon it was time to go. Maybe Saturday afternoon was the wrong time to go. We don't want to judge too harshly - we hear it gets more lively in the evenings. With karaoke on offer, it would be a miserable affair if it didn't.
