Tottenham Court Road: Take the Dominion Theatre exit from the station and head up Tottenham Court Road. Take the first right and follow Great Russell Street around until you see the British Museum. The pub's on the corner of Museum Street. Holborn: Cross High Holborn and proceed up Southampton Row. Cross the road and turn left into Bloomsbury Place. The pub is straight ahead on the left.

This lovely pub located across the road from the British Museum has managed to maintain its standards over the years and, despite having a regular tourist clientele - something that doesn't always work to the benefit of the pub - it still manages to be a decent pub; which is a rare occurrence in our opinion. There's usually a decent guest beer or two on - with seven pumps to choose from, you're bound to find something you like. And the quality and standard of service overall is pretty good, with friendly and attentive staff. It can get busy at lunchtimes, but that's no surprise as it serves reasonably priced food during the day. There're also a fair few after-workers, so If you want it quieter, give it a go in the afternoon or later in the evening. It's also a fantastic place to meet to go to the British Museum; or, if one is coming out of the Museum and needs a place to rest one's feet and quench that thirst. It's still a winner.

Location is the only thing going for this place - if it was anywhere else it would have closed down by now. Staff are clearly overworked and suffering from low morale, hence their surly and aggressive attitude to any punter daring to buy a drink. Don't bother going if you like your drinking establishments to have a good atmosphere. Alternatively, if being scowled at all night is your thing, better head on down there...
