picture of Ye Olde White Horse
Situated in the heart of London's legal world and a stone's throw away from the London School of Economics, Ye Olde White Horse used to be famous for the 'no students' sign that limited its clientele down to a few punters. Well, the sign's gone now, the average age of the clientele has dropped 20 or 30 years as a result, and frankly, the pub is a lot better for it. What we've got now is a pub you can actually feel comfortable in, rather than a cliquey pub were first time visitors often felt uneasy. Aside from the new management and the alteration in the pub's punters, very little else has been changed: there's still a good range of ales, the blood red interior still evokes the Overlook Hotel and even the CDs on the sound system seem to be the old ones. The die hard old regulars won't admit it, but this one's now a greatly improved pub from the one where the local scholars were barred.

lovely pub - simple food, good beer. But it stinks of chip fat. Really, really stinks, At least ciggy smoke smells meant you had been in a pub; now you might as well hang out at KFC.

Met my sister here for a beer after work on Monday night. It's a nice, normal, proper pub with no tourists! (Not easily found in London.) New management had taken over that day & were very friendly. Even did table service for the drinks!
