picture of King and Tinker
Certainly one of the more out-of-the-way pubs featured on Fancyapint.com, the King and Tinker is an odd locals pub within earshot of the M25. Set in ample grounds, there was plenty of space for the car park (with no fewer than three Range Rovers present) a beer garden and a large children's play area. A greater part of the building dates back to the 16th century, with low beamed ceilings and a huge floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace evidence to this. Apart from a group of golfers enjoying a 19th hole drink, the clientele (with an age range of 8-80) all knew each other and with so many 'characters' in residence, you almost expected a fly-on-the-wall camera crew to pop out. Clearly a pub considerably out of the way for most people, if you happen to be visiting the northern reaches of Whitewebbs Park on a sunny day, the King and Tinker is (literally) the only place to be.

I was born in this pub in 1953 - we used to lie with our ears glued to the floor listening to the Public Bar Boys singing songs from the war. It always had loyal regular customers - Margaret and Peter Holloway were the landlords from then till 1962.
only one comment, so far on this pub - why not add your own?
