how to find it:

By nature of its location, travelling here by car might seem a necessity, so an A-Z is your best bet. If you want to walk, like we did, catch the 215 bus from Walthamstow to its terminus at Lee Valley Campsite, turn left onto Sewardstone road and walk for about 15-20 minutes. The pub will be welcome sight on the right, if you make it passed The Plough.

It's initially tricky to assess The Bakers Arm's age. The stonework and heavy wooden beams suggested 'old', but it looked suspiciously clean and tidy. And, of course, olde worlde pubs don't normally have such huge car parks. Indeed, it transpired to be a new pub, built as part of a hotel complex, presumably located here for easy access to the M25. As such, the hotel provides a fair chunk of the clientele, making it feel rather transient here. Sundays offer up a different, albeit equally transient crowd, filled as it was with families and couples on trips into the countryside. Consequently it gets pretty hectic, with harried but unfailingly polite staff. Despite the nature of the place, it wasn't as bland as some country-style pubs we've encountered recently and seeing a handful of well-kept ales was also pleasing. Despite the hotel connection, its perfectly easy to see this as a pub in its own right.
