picture of Shakespeare
Westbourne Grove is a funny old street - a real split between the old and the new. Clearly for a while now an upmarket and expensive area (hence shops selling settees at wildly inflated price tags) there are still flashes of the place it use to be, such as the tiny barbers shop with original 1970s signage. For better or worse, The Shakespeare falls somewhat into this latter category and seemingly has no plans to move upwards just yet. A fairly unspectacular place, it has Directors on tap, serves cheap pub grub 'meal deals' and has a pool table in the back - you get the picture. If you're looking for a down-to-earth drink in an area currently in gastropub orbit, this might just be it.
