picture of Big Chill House
Another taster of the future of King's Cross, Big Chill House has opened up 3 floors and an outdoor terrace of Big Chill loveliness in a rather tasty listed building next door to the slightly less lovely Thameslink station. For those who know and love the brand, welcome to your mothership. This has everything the Big Chill fan could wish for under one roof (and sky). Offering you squishy sofas galore and plenty of opportunities for louche behaviour in distinct areas such as the Lulworth Lounge, the Finlandia Cabin and the Enchanted Bar, Big Chill House will be there to fill your every need, be that art, music, fine wine or chip butties. The main bar (couldn't quite work out if it was enchanted or not) appears to be well stocked with the usual suspects on tap (Heineken, Hoegaarden and Guinness) as well as bottled Leffe and Newcastle Brown. Nice to see Stowford Press cider on tap too. Cocktails galore and an impressive wine list even up things on that score. Be warned though: the food appears to be reasonably priced but the beverages are on the steep side. Since opening in August 2006, this one's become one of the more popular spots for a drink around King's Cross - so even with a large amount of space, you usually have to turn up early to bag a seat.
